About US

John Carbone, MD, founder of Integrative Mindfulness, is a board certified Family Physician with extensive experience in Mindfulness Meditation. In primary care practice he witnessed firsthand the epidemic of suffering caused by stress and stress related illnesses. Dr. Carbone had direct experience of the beneficial effects of meditation in regards to alleviating his own physical and emotional suffering, and also witnessed that brief interventions with instruction of Mindfulness could remarkably improve people’s sense of well-being.

Dr. Carbone is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has been certified as a Mindfulness Meditation Facilitator by internationally renowned meditation expert Shinzen Young, and has received intensive foundational training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction through the Center For Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine. He has participated in retreats, conferences, and seminars with pioneers in the integration of meditation and health care, including Jon Kabat- Zinn, PhD, Deepak Chopra, MD, Jack Kornfield, PhD, Saki Santorelli, EdD, B. Alan Wallace, PhD, and the Dalai Lama.

Integrative Mindfulness, LLC, was inspired by the model of Stress Reduction Clinic at UMass Memorial Medical Center (now the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Healthcare and Society at UMass Medical School) founded by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979. Our aim is to serve as a complementary resource to help people find relief from stress and other forms of physical and emotional suffering.
